Where to Buy Amazon Alexa in Canada
It seems like only yesterday that I was writing that there was nowhere to buy Amazon Alexa in Canada. But on November 15, 2017 that all changed. The question is no longer HOW to get Alexa in Canada, but now WHERE to buy Amazon Alexa in Canada?
Now that the Alexa devices are available, there are actually quite a few retailers that are selling the Echo devices. Right now, there are 3 choices for Echo products (there are 5 options in the States) and they are all pre-orders, with the Echo devices starting to be shipped (or bought in store) as of December 5, 2017.
So, without further ado, here is the complete list of Canadian retailers that carry the Echo devices and where to buy Amazon Alexa in Canada:
Amazon.ca
This is the obvious place. Amazon is now taking pre-orders for 3 different Echo devices. Also, if you are a Prime member you get free 2-day shipping (Click here for a free trial). If you order in advance of the ship date (December 5th), you can have your shiny new Echo delivered to your door on that day! This is the quickest way to get your device, IF you pre-order. Also, they have plenty of stock. Some of the other retailers in this list are already sold out of specific Echo devices/finishes.
Here are the 3 Echo devices up for grabs:
The Amazon Echo is the “original” Alexa device. This one is currently on sale for a limited time to mark the official launch of Alexa in Canada.
It comes in 3 different finishes: Charcoal fabric (pictured), Heather Grey Fabric, and Sandstone Fabric.
The promotional price is $99.99. The regular price will be $129.99. The promotional price is expected to last until December 9th, 2017 (keep reading to see why), but there is no guarantee!
The Amazon Echo Plus is like the original Echo, except is also has a built-in Smart-home hub so you can control many other smart home devices as well. Again, this one is on sale for a limited time. Also, as a bonus you get a FREE Philips Hue light bulb!
It comes in 3 different finishes: Black, Silver (pictured), and White.
The promotional price is $169.99 and includes the Philips Hue light bulb at no additional cost! The regular price will be $199.99. Again, I would expect the sale to be good until Dec 9, 2017, but no guarantees!
The Amazon Echo Dot is the smallest Echo device. It has all the same features as the Echo, minus the enhanced Dolby speakers. This is the most economical way to get started with Alexa.
This one comes in 2 different finishes: Black (pictured), and White.
The promotional price is $49.99. The regular price will be $69.99. Same as the other two – expect the sale to be around until Dec 9, 2017 (no guarantees!).
Best Buy
Best Buy is probably the second retailer that comes to mind after Amazon itself. Best Buy also has the 3 Echo devices up for pre-order on their website as we speak. Pricing is the same as on Amazon.ca. Click here to check out Echo options on the Best Buy Website.
The Source
The Source, another electronic retailer in Canada, is another place that you can go to get your Echo device. Pricing is same as the others, but according to their website there is some limited availability of some of the finish choices. Also, there may be shipping charges, depending on how much you spend. Staples
No surprise here either. Staples is another place where you can get your shiny new Alexa. Interestingly, when you look at their pricing (which is the same as the others), it states that the introductory offer “Expires on December 09, 2017.” Very interesting. I haven’t seen this date written down anywhere else, but you can expect all of the introductory pricing to go away at the same time. Also note that right now, the Echo in Sandstone is not available there. Check out their web site here.
Telus
I admit, this is one retailer that didn’t come to mind right away. However, it does make a lot of sense when you consider that Telus is getting into Alexa skills with a Skill of their own. So, it makes sense that Telus has become an official supplier as well.
Check out their offerings here. Note that at the time of this writing, they are out of Echo and Echo Plus devices. Their website still shows that they have some Dots for sale. Pricing is the same as on the Amazon.ca website.
Bell
Not to be outdone by Telus, Bell has also entered the Amazon Echo/Alexa ecosystem… at least according to Amazon’s press release. But, I just tried searching for the Echo devices on the Bell website and couldn’t find anything. Maybe they’re just a little slow off the mark? We’ll have to wait and see.
Bed Bath & Beyond
Bed Bath & Beyond is also getting in on the Echo action. They have 2 products on their website right now – the Echo and Echo Dot. Currently, they do NOT have the Echo Plus for sale. Pricing again is the same. Check ’em out here.
TSC – Today’s Shopping Choice
Last, but not least, TSC is also selling the Echo devices. This is not one of the retailers that came to my mind right away about where to buy Amazon Alexa in Canada. Nevertheless, Like Bed Bath & Beyond, they are selling the Echo and EchoDot right now, but NOT the Echo Plus. TSC also has a Echo + Echo Dot bundle for $144.98.
