Hey, Teri here. It’s Sunday and Sunday are days we like to answer questions from the community. Here’s an interesting one. And I’ll get right to it.

The question is, “There’s a rumor going around that a wake word for Alexa is now Ziggy. Is that true?” Well, the answer to that is, yes, it is true. But, here’s the but, it’s only available in the United States for some reason.

So, yes, in the United States, Amazon has added a new wake word to Alexa. So you’ve got Alexa. You’ve also got Echo, you’ve got a computer. Those are all available here in Canada, but they also have Ziggy now available in the United States.

Is Ziggy a New Wake word?

So, to answer the question, yes, Ziggy is a wake word, but it’s only available in the US language. So, if you’ve got your device set up for the US language, you could set your wake word to Ziggy.

Otherwise, I guess we’re just gonna have to wait here in Canada again, unfortunately, if you want to use that wake word. Why they chose Ziggy, I’m not sure.
