Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #280
Hey, it’s Teri, and I hope you are enjoying this weekend. And, if you are getting into the shopping spirit on this Black Friday/Cyber Monday weekend, then this question is for you. On Sundays I like to answer questions from the community, and, today I want to answer a question that was raised in our Facebook community page.
And by the way, if you’re not part of our Facebook community page, then feel free to join. You can just go to AlexainCanada.ca/community. But, in our community, Christine Dupree Holleran, I hope I said your name right Christine, asked this question, “So like many others, I’ve grabbed a couple of few new Echo devices, and they will be gifts. What do I need to consider about what account to register to music accounts, et cetera? Do they need their own? Anything else I should be aware of?”
Well, there’s a great discussion in the group. So again, I encourage you to go and check it out and I just want to give a shout out to some of the people here that have really gone above and beyond to answer questions. Darlene, Paula, Nancy and Pete; thanks so much for answering the question, but basically, If I try to summarize some of the key things here.
If you’re giving an Echo device to somebody, the first thing is, when you go to order it, if it’s somebody let’s say outside your house, first of all, make sure that you do choose the option that you’re giving as a gift, because if you don’t, it’s going to be registered to you, and that person will have to go through an extra step of de-registering it, so that it can become part of their account. So, that’s something to consider.
If you want to be able to use the “Drop-in” feature, then you want to have the Echo devices on the same account so that you’re able to drop-in easily.
Now, as far as the other things to consider. If you want to be able to use the “Drop-in” feature, then you want to have the Echo devices on the same account so that you’re able to drop-in easily. Now, having said that, if they’re not on the same account, you can still communicate with each other by calling another Echo device through the device.
That’s certainly possible, and that is an option. When it gets to the music subscriptions, it gets a little bit more complicated, but I’ll say this, that, whether you have Spotify or whether you have Amazon Prime, you have options to have family memberships. And if you choose to have a family membership, that basically gives you multiple users at the same time in one account so you can actually assign a user to, you know, your son or your daughter or to your spouse, or whatever.
And those people can then listen to music, different music at the same time. So that’s a key thing to consider. In fact, that’s probably the biggest issue with the music, is that if you want to be able to have individual people listening to different music the same time, you’re each going to need your own account. If you want to share the music and only have a single account, that’s fine, but recognize that you’re only able to listen to it, or the same thing on one or more Echos at the same time.
I cover a lot more of this if you go to the website, AlexainCanada.ca, and just search for Spotify or Prime music, and you’ll see previous flash briefings. You’ll see previous articles I’ve written on this, and of course, just check out our community page for more information. Hope you’re having a great weekend, and I will talk to you tomorrow.
