Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #469
Hey there and welcome to today’s flash briefing for Sunday. It’s Teri here and as you know, on Sundays, I love to answer questions that I get from the community.
And today’s question is one that came off the email through the contact form on the blog, and this one is from Diane H. And, Diane says, “Hey, it’s Diane from London, Ontario. I was wondering if Alexa has the capability of searching for a recipe, and then reading it off step by step while I am preparing it.”
Can I help? Well, Diane, I kind of have a mixed answer for you here. The bad news is that the feature to simply ask Alexa for a recipe right now in Canada, doesn’t really work, in fact, I tried it just now with a couple of different recipe ideas.
I said, for example, “Can you find a recipe for cookies, or for chicken, or for Spaghetti, or whatever?” And it said that’s not available in Canada. So no, that’s not available in Canada right now.
However, there are third party skills that are specifically looking at this problem. And they’re designed to create a really good cooking experience.
And it does that, it takes you through the ingredients, takes you through the steps, and so on. And one of those skills is called Klove Chef.
There are third party skills that are specifically looking at this problem.
And, if you’re interested in learning more about that skill, in particular, I would recommend that you listen to the podcast episode on… on the website, or on your podcast player.
You can find this one at AlexainCanada.ca/44. This was an interview that I did with Bahubali Shete and Mario Rodriguez, who are… you know, two of the key people creating this skill, Klove Chef.
And, they’re doing some really, really interesting things in fact. So, I would check that out. If you are interested in using your voice devices to do some cooking, check out Klove Chef, or have a look at that particular podcast episode, AlexainCanada.ca/44.
And, just so you know, if you just click on the link in the skill card that shows up on your mobile phone while you’re listening to this flash briefing, that will take you directly to that podcast episode.
Hope that’s helpful, and I will talk to you again tomorrow. There’s some… there’s a brand new Echo device that has just come out, and I’m going to tell you about it tomorrow. Alright. Take care.
