Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #1339

Hey, hey. Teri here. It is Tuesday. Hope you are doing well. Have you ever found that you have created an awesome routine for your Alexa device, and then you can’t remember what phrase it was to enable that routine or to start that routine?

I’ll give you an example. Alright? I have one where it says, “Alexa. Good night” And that starts some of the “Getting ready for bed” things, whether it’s smart lights, volumes, etc.

But sometimes, I might be thinking, I want to say, “Alexa, bedtime” or “Alexa, it’s time to go to bed.”

The thing is, you can actually set up multiple phrases to enable the routine. And this is how you do it. It’s pretty cool.

You click on the “More” icon on the bottom right of the Alexa app, you click on routines, you click on the specific routine that you want to add that additional phrase to, and then you’ll see a line on there that says, “When you say” and it’ll have your current phrase.

Right underneath that, there’s a little blue bit of text and it says “View/Edit” You click on that, and then you’ll see the option to add another phrase.

And then you can go ahead and do that. And you can add multiple phrases so that when you are wanting to trigger a routine, you don’t have to remember the specific phrase if you put in, you know, the most common ways that you would ask for that particular routine.

So there you go. Hope that is helpful to you. I think it’s a pretty cool little feature. Makes things a little bit easier to use. Alright.

And, as usual, I want to give you a special reminder. Tomorrow is session 18 of The Voice Den.

This is a very special episode because we are previewing Project Voice X, which is one of the major conferences that happen in the voice tech space, and it’s happening the following week, next week, in Florida.

This is put on by Bradley Metrock who is one of our voicefluencers. He’s the CEO of Score Publishing and puts on some of the most incredible voice tech conferences.

In addition to Bradley, we have Jeff Blankenburg, who is the principal evangelist for Amazon Alexa.

We have Esteban Gorupicz who is the Founder and CEO of Atexto. We have Scott Sandland, who is the CEO of Cyrano.ai.

And we have John Stein, Executive Director of the Open Voice Network. Thanks to Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant for their sponsorship.

The show is entirely free to you. And you just go to TheVoiceDen.com to save your seat. It’s going to be a lot of fun. As I said, it’s a preview of Project Voice X.

So all of these people that are going to be featured are going to be part of Project Voice X as well. So there you go.
