Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #269
Alright, it’s Teri here. And, as you know, Amazon sent out or released a new update of their Alexa app, and as I was playing around with this, I noticed that there was now a toggle switch that allows you to turn on kids’ skills. So I thought, “Hhmmmm…., I know there are some developers that were looking to get kids’ skills into Canada, but they weren’t able to do it yet because kids’ skills weren’t available”
So I went onto the website, and I looked in the skill store, and sure enough, there is a category now for kids’ skills. So the big announcement here is that kids’ skills are now available in Canada. At the time that I went to look for this, there were only 37 kids’ skills in all of Canada, which is ridiculous. There’s such an opportunity here. So, of course, the first thing that I did was I sent out a tweet.
And by the way, if you’re not following me on Twitter, or you want to connect with me on twitter, feel free to do so. I’m @DrTeriFisher, but the first thing I did was I went and I sent out a tweet saying kids’ skills are available in Canada, and I tagged a couple of people that I know have been waiting for this. And, I’m really excited because I know that there are some incredible kids’ skills that are available in the United States, and they haven’t been in Canada yet.
So the big announcement here is that kids skills are now available in Canada.
And, I want to be able to feature some of these incredible developers on the podcast as well. So I plan to reach out to them as soon as their skills are in Canada, and I know that they are working on that as we speak. So there you go. Stay tuned. Check them out right now. There are some kids’ skills there. Not a whole bunch right now, but it’s just a matter of time, and I think this is a wonderful update for Alexa, and for kids’ skills, and for the whole Amazon ecosystem. All right, enjoy. 1. Open your Alexa app and click on the Menu button > Settings > Flash Briefing.
2. Click on “Add Content” and search for “Voice in Canada”.
3. Click on “Voice in Canada” and the Enable button.
