Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #1292

Hello, it’s Teri here. And today, I want to cover a little bit about functions that you can use to customize your music experience with Alexa. And actually, we’ll probably cover three different scenarios over the next couple of flash briefings.

So the first one I want to explain to you to do is all about multi-room music. And what that means is you can choose to have two speakers in two different places, two different rooms, play the same music.

So, for example, if you have a couple of Echo devices upstairs or a couple of Echo devices downstairs, you can group those together so that when you say play music upstairs or play music downstairs, only those speakers as part of that group will be activated.

This is how you do it. You click… you go into your Alexa app, and then you click on the devices icon at the bottom. Then you click on the plus icon in the top right.

Functions You Can Use to Customize Your Music Experience With Alexa

You click on combined speakers, and then you’re going to see the option, the first option is multi-room music. You click on that, and now Alexa will search for the different speakers that are part of your home network of Echo devices if you will.

Now you can choose whichever ones that you want. Once you’ve done that, you click Next, and then you choose a name. This is the name that you’re going to have when you say, “Alexa, play music on that name.”

And that is going to be the group of speakers. So there’s a whole bunch of customized names ready for you to select from, or you can actually customize your own.

And, once you’ve done that, then you are essentially set. You just push Save, and then you can use that particular name to specify those speakers. Alright? Pretty cool function, and we’ll cover another one tomorrow. Alright. Talk to you then.
