Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #403
Hello. Hope you’re having a great day, great morning, great evening, great whatever time it is when you’re listening to this particular flash briefing. It’s Teri here, and I want to give you a little update on the whole French language thing in Canada, that has been in the news recently.
I actually talked about this on my flash briefing a few days ago, that the French language support is now currently available for Alexa in Canada. But there is one caveat, it’s only available for the devices that do not have a screen.
So, I got a couple of emails and some information about this, and I wanted to clarify this with all of you. Yes, it is available. It’s officially available on devices such as the Echo Dot, and the Echo, but it is not yet compatible on the Echo Show, or the Echo Spot. Those ones are not quite there yet.
There is one caveat, it’s only available for the devices that do not have a screen.
In the email, it says that Amazon is working on this, but there isn’t a specific time-frame yet as to when we can expect that to come online for the Echo Spot, and for the Echo Show.
So, that’s a little bit of good news, a little bit of bad news. If you are a French speaker and you have a device, it doesn’t have a screen, hey, no biggie, you’ve got French now on your Alexa device.
If you want it on your device with a video screen, you’re going to have to wait for a little while longer, it says it’s coming soon. Okay? Anyway, there’s the clarification for you. Hope that helps. And, hope you have a great day. Talk to tomorrow.

Listen on your Echo Device! Easy as 1-2-3!
1. Open your Alexa app and click on the Menu button > Settings > Flash Briefing.
2. Click on “Add Content” and search for “Voice in Canada”.
3. Click on “Voice in Canada” and the Enable button.
