Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #813
Hey there Dr. Teri Fisher here with your flash briefing for Monday.
And today I want to tell you a little bit about a Covid_19 feature that’s now been built into Alexa.
As you may know, you may have heard that for now a couple of weeks, Alexa, at least in United States, was able to give some advice when it comes to Covid_19 and for your concern that you may have the virus, but that wasn’t yet available in Canada.
Well, I want to let you know that now it is, and what they’re using as the information source is the public health agency for Canada.
And so if you ask these questions, and I’ll give you two examples, one of them is, “Alexa, what do I do if I think I have Covid_19” and the other one is, “Alexa, what do I do if I think I have coronavirus.”
And Alexa will take you through a short series of questions to assess your level of risk of having the virus and then will give you some appropriate advice.
I have to say that the way it goes through the skill is very, very much like the way I had my skill Coronavirus Doc got pulled from Amazon.
So I have mixed feelings about this, I think it’s a great service that Amazon’s doing.
I have to say I’m disappointed a little bit in the fact that mine was pulled and it really was doing pretty much the same thing as this skill.
What they’re using as the information source is the public health agency for Canada.
Nevertheless, I understand as you may have heard me talk about it in the past, that this is the way Amazon’s going with it to protect the information that’s being given through Alexa.
Anyway, check it out, again, those two statements are Alexa, “what do I do if I think I have Covid_19” or “if I have coronavirus”, alright?
Now, finally, just before I sign off, I want to give a shout out to Dennis.
Dennis was one of the most recent people to leave a review for this flash briefing on the Amazon skill store.
Dennis gave it five stars. He wrote, “You’re good, I do look forward to your daily update. You have good info that I use. I also try to share some of your tips”.
Well, Dennis, thank you so much, I really, really appreciate that and it’s wonderful to hear that you’re sharing it as well.
These reviews really are a real source of encouragement for me to keep going and to know that these flash briefings are providing value to you.
So if you’ve been listening for a while and you haven’t had a chance to leave a review and you are so inclined, of course, I would appreciate that as well.
And you can simply go to VoiceinCanada.ca, you’ll see a red button there to leave a review, it’s that simple, it takes a few seconds.
So thank you very much, we’ve got a couple other review shadows to give coming up here in the next little while.
So be well, take care, have a great day, I’ll talk to you tomorrow.
