Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #1432

Hello. Teri here. Happy Thursday. Hope your week is going really well.

Today I want to give you another tip that you can use with your Alexa app to help you drop in on a particular device in your home or anywhere really, for that matter.

Let’s say you’re out at the office, and you know that your family is at home in the kitchen, and you have an Echo Show device in your kitchen and you want to drop it on them and say, “Hi.”

You can do that directly from your Alexa app. What you do is you go to the settings. So you click on “More” in the bottom right corner.

You click on “Settings”, you click on “Device Settings”, and then you click on “Device”

You can also get to it just simply by clicking on “Devices” on the bottom and then choosing one of your particular devices.

Once you’ve done that, you will notice that at the top of the screen, you have three different options. You’ve got volume, you’ve got drop-in, and you’ve got off. Let’s talk about drop-in.

Drop in From the Alexa App

So that’s exactly what you can use. You click on drop-in and automatically, this will drop-in on your device.

If you’ve got a device with a screen, you will be able to see the person like a video call. And, it’s that simple. It really, really is simple.

So, that’s what you do. You can use your Alexa app to drop-in on one of your devices. Now here’s the key.

Those devices have to be on the same account. Right?

Because the drop-in only works on devices that are all registered under the same Amazon account, because of course, if it worked with anybody’s, you could just drop-in on anybody.

And there are ways to do that if you set that up, but by default, it is set to drop-in on devices that are on your account. So there you go.

Have fun with that one. Drop in, surprise your family, and hope you have a wonderful Thursday. Talk to you tomorrow.
