Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #1043
Hey, hey happy Sunday, hope you’re doing well.
Hope you are not all chopped out entirely from Boxing Day.
Hope you having fun with all your new Echo devices and your Alexa devices as well.
It’s Sunday and on Sunday, we like to answer, we ask questions as well, but we answer questions from the community, particularly from the Facebook community, that’s where a lot of the questions come from.
So if you’re not part of our Facebook community, then please join us go to VoiceinCanada.ca/Community.
Now, the question today comes from Pam Blackstone and here’s the question. She says, “Can anyone here tell me if Alexa will work with a Kasa, (I hope I’m pronouncing that brand, right? I’m never sure) Kasa Smart Plug. Just using the skill and without having to install the app”.
She goes on to say that she recently bought one for a friend who does not have a smartphone and now she’s wondering, well, what does she do about that?
Well, as usual, we had a lot of great community members Northern voice suggests some answers to her.
Trevor says, “No, you need the app at the very least to set it up”, and that is true, you do need an app to use that particular brand of Smart Plugs.
So you know that suggests that there are a couple of options and for this friend, this friend either does need to borrow someone’s phone to set it up or they need to get some type of old phone to be able to put the app on to then set it up so that it works with Alexa.
if you were to use just the Amazon smart plug brand, you don’t need anything else to set it up
Now the other option, and this is one that Pete suggested is to not use that brand.
Now I know you already bought that, so that may be kind of after the fact here.
But if you were to use just the Amazon smart plug brand, you don’t need anything else to set it up because it works seamlessly with Alexa, there’s no other app that is required.
So I don’t know if that helps now, but going forward, that would be a good option for people that do not have a smartphone or do not want to bother with setting up these smart devices on a separate app.
So there you go, I hope that is helpful to you and I hope that’s helpful to a lot of other people.
If you are enjoying the content, I haven’t mentioned this in a while I would love it if you would just leave a quick review of this flash briefing.
You just go to VoiceinCanada.ca/Review and that takes you directly to the flash briefing on Amazon and you can put in a review there if you choose to do so.
