Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #861
Hey there, Teri Fisher here with your flash briefing for Sunday.
And today I’ve got a question that is from an anonymous person, but I think it’s a really interesting question, so I wanted to cover this right here.
And they were asking like do you have to update your software on Alexa?
And the answer is no and this is actually one of the really interesting things about voice technology and the smart assistants.
In that, compare this to like a mobile app or computer software, even an operating system, right?
As you will know, you have to periodically update them, there are patches that come out to fix bugs, or there are new features that come out and you have to actually manually update them or perhaps it is scheduled to update.
But you’ll know that sometimes when that happens, you can’t use the device or you can’t use your computer and so on.
The updates happen automatically over the air, through the cloud.
Well, here’s the really cool thing about Alexa and the smart assistant, it is that the updates happen automatically over the air, through the cloud.
And you know, you aren’t even aware that this is happening, it just happens automatically.
And at the same time, when this happens, Alexa’s becoming smarter, Alexa is getting new features and so on.
So from the perspective of whether or not you have to update it, it’s actually the most seamless technology that we have and I believe that’s actually one of the reasons why it is being adopted so quickly.
So the answer to the question is, do you have to update it?
The answer is no, you don’t have to do anything specifically because it is happening automatically behind the scenes, which is very, very cool.
So thank you for that question, I appreciate that very much and if anybody would like to leave a review for the flash briefing at any point, you simply go to VoiceinCanada.ca and you’ll see a button right there.
Thanks a lot, have a great day, I’ll talk to you tomorrow.
