Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #918

Hey there, Teri Fisher here with your flash briefing for Monday.

And as I mentioned previously, I want to highlight some of the blueprints because there’s a lot of power in this function.

And again, to access blueprints you go to your Alexa app, you click on the More button in the lower right corner and you click on blueprints.

And blueprints allow you to create essentially custom skills, but they’re based on templates or a blueprint.

And the one that I want to highlight today is the custom Q &A blueprint and this one’s really just fun I think.

What this allows you to do is to ask Alexa a question and customize the response that she gives you.

So you can have a lot of fun with this, you can have a little joke, you can have pranks if you say something to Alexa and Alexa responds in a certain way.

When you go into your blueprints and you look at this in the app, it does give you some samples and I’ll just give you a, you know, two of the samples that Amazon mentions here.

you can have a lot of fun with this, you can have a little joke, you can have pranks

So one is you could have Alexa set up to respond to this particular question, “Alexa, who is the best mom”.

An example that they gave is you could program Alexa to say, I just compared all the moms in history and my conclusion is that yours is the best.

Or you could say, “Alexa, which is the best city in the world” and Alexa could say, “I’m pretty fond of my hometown Seattle” or substitute your favorite town in there.

You get the idea, I had fun with creating one where it says that our dog or pet dog Coda is the favorite person in the house.

And then I asked Alexa, who’s the favorite person in front of my kids and they got a kick out of it, the fact that Alexa, number one knew the name of our dog and number two chose the dog over them.

So anyway, have some fun with that one, I think it’s a fun one and take care, talk to you tomorrow.
