Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #1005
Hello, Teri Fisher here with your flash briefing for Thursday and I want to give a shout out to Patrick Balleux in the in the Facebook group.
And if you’re not part of our Facebook group and come join us at AlexainCanada.ca/Community.
He pointed out there is a new feature in the routines section of the Alexa app and it’s all about being able to control your Fire TV as part of a routine.
Now if you’re not sure what routines are basically it’s the ability to program Alexa to do a whole bunch of tasks with just one statement.
And I’ve done talks on that before you can always just search routines on the AlexainCanada.ca website, and you’ll find tons of information on that.
But here’s the new feature, like I said, you can control your Smart TV, or I should say your Fire TV Stick more specifically.
And as usual, you trigger your routine by either a time or a particular phrase but when you’re actually now choosing what happens, you’ll notice that there is now an option to click on Fire TV.
being able to control your Fire TV as part of a routine.
Again, the way you get into that is you go to your Alexa app, you click on the More button down in the bottom right.
You click on routines and then you’re going to set up a routine with the plus sign and once you go through it and you get to the point where you are actually setting up the action, you add the action, you click on Fire TV, and then you have a number of different options.
You will click on the particular TV Stick that you want to control and then you have the option to turn on the Fire TV Stick turned off, play particular content, pause video resume video or navigate to the home screen.
So, what would be a good use case for this? Well, obviously like a movie night, you set one command to Alexa it turns off the lights, sets the mood and turns on your Fire TV Stick and you are set to go.
So again, thanks Patrick for that information, great, great tip and I hope that is helpful for you as well.
Have a wonderful day, I’ll talk to you again tomorrow.
Remember, tomorrow is the beginning of Black Friday, which is not really Black Friday, but it’s the beginning of the Black Friday sales on Amazon, I’ll tell you all about it tomorrow.
Have a great day.
