Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #49
Hey there. So today I’m going to tell you about a pretty cool skill, that is available in Canada and it’s a pretty cool skill because it’s a neat concept.
This is a skill that’s actually made by Amazon and typically most of the skills out there in the marketplace are third party skills, as you probably know, but this one is called Cleo and this has been in the news a little bit recently.
The idea behind Cleo is that the skill specifically is essentially crowd sourcing a way for Alexa to learn more languages. So I’ll come back to that just one sec.
But as you likely know, Alexa is always learning, it’s a form of Artificial Intelligence and when you respond in certain ways or you talk to Alexa in certain ways, Alexa starting to learn your particular nuances of your voice and the way you like to ask for things, the types of music you like, so that ultimately the responses can be better.
This skill specifically is asking you to help train Alexa to learn new languages.
With this skill, this skill specifically is asking you to help train Alexa to learn new languages.
And the way this works is you enable the skill like you normally would with “Alexa, enabled” or “open cleo” and then basically Alexa is going to ask you to say certain phrases in a particular language that you specify and in such a way, Alexa is actually learning new languages.
And when you think about this, it’s pretty neat idea because if people are doing this all over, well, many countries, I won’t say around the world because Alexa isn’t quite global yet.
But in many countries, if people are doing this and they’re teaching Alexa phrases in different languages, this is going to help to crowd source the language learning for Alexa.
So I think that’s pretty cool. They’ve also gamified this so you can earn points by doing this more and more, and it’s a pretty neat concept.
So check it out. Just say “Alexa, enabled Cleo” or “open Cleo” and try it out. Have a great day everybody.
