Amazon and Best Buy have announced a partnership to sell Fire TV Edition Smart TVs in Canada and the United States. The new Fire TVs, which are also Alexa enabled, will be sold exclusively at Best Buy stores and it’s website as well as on Amazon.ca through Best Buy as a third-party seller. This is the first time that the two retailers have collaborated in such a direct fashion.

“Amazon and Best Buy have a long history of working together, and today we take our partnership to a new level,” said Jeff Bezos, Amazon founder and CEO. “These Fire Edition smart TVs by Insignia and Toshiba deliver beautiful visuals and all the movies and TV shows you love, with an experience that gets better every day with Alexa. We could not have a better partner in this endeavour.”

This multiyear partnership will start this summer, with Best Buy pledging to sell more than 10 different Fire TV Edition sets from Toshiba and Insignia (with both regular HD models and 4K available) in the future.

With the built-in Fire TV experience, the new smart TVs will combine over-the-air TV and all your streaming apps into one easy-to-view location.

Alexa-Enabled

Amazon’s voice-controlled assistant Alexa will allow users hands-free TV control. By connecting any HD source you can instantly use Alexa to search for and view broadcast TV, or pick from a huge catalog of streaming TV episodes and movies from HBO, Netflix, PlayStation Vue, Hulu, Prime Video, and many more.

The voice remote with Alexa will make it easy to search for TV shows, launch apps, play music, control smart home devices, switch inputs, and more.

The new Fire TV will keep on improving even after you buy it, with the addition of new Alexa skills, applications, and software features added regularly. There are already tens of thousands of Alexa skills accessible today, which allow you to enjoy stunning entertainment experiences, view and control your smart home connected cameras, security systems, lighting, and more.

The retailer accomplishes this  through customer-focused curation of the technology it offers online and in stores. The new Alexa-enabled Fire TV Edition smart TVs will be available for purchase in Canada later this year.
