Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #1419

Hey, hey. Teri here. It is Friday and boy do I have a fascinating story for you today. I think this is really cool. Alexa is going into space.

What this is all about really, is that NASA has announced that for the first time in 50 years, they’re heading back to the moon and Alexa will be flying into space with Artemis 1.

So, Artemis 1 is currently planned for launch in March. Alexa is going to be on board.

What that means is that people are going to be able to interact with Alexa and ask Alexa, for example, “What is the temperature inside the cabin?

What is the cruising speed?” and so on. So, this will all be connected to the telemetry that is on board. Very, very interesting.

It’s kind of like as if an Echo Show will be taken into space, and then people will have the opportunity to interact with that.

And Alexa will be able to give the responses.

Amazon had to change the algorithms for this particular version of Alexa

Artemis 1 is Taking Alexa to the Moon

If you want to follow along with the Artemis 1 mission, it’s really interesting.

You can simply say the command to Alexa right now, “Alexa, take me to the moon.” And she will give you a little bit of information about this.

I will try to keep you updated as more and more information comes available for this as well.

And we can tease out more of the details about what you can or can’t do, and what Alexa will be doing in space.

Of course, Amazon had to change the algorithms for this particular version of Alexa, because there’s so much vibration, and so much other sound that goes on on a spacecraft.

But that is the plan. So I think this is really really cool. So stay tuned.

I’ll bring you more information and for now, just try that command, “Alexa, take me to the moon” and see what you get.

Alright. Have fun. Talk to you soon.
