Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #1379
Hello. Teri here. Hope you’re doing well. It is Sunday, and that means we’ve got another question from the community. And this is a great one.
This is sent in by Leifdah. I hope I have pronounced your name right. Here’s the question.
“I’m a fairly experienced Alexa product user. I have multiple devices and decided to get my mum and dad an Echo Dot and a Fire TV stick. They’re in a different province. So I thought it’d be fun for the kids to drop in on them. Anyway, we use the announcements a lot in our home, and I cannot figure out how to stop the announcements from going to their Fire TV stick. I found out how to stop it from going to their Echo Dot, but the Fire TV Stick is stumping me.”
So, the answer, thank you very, very much to a member in our community. As always, Pete helped to answer this.
And Pete said, “Firstly, I would have created a separate account for them as they’re in a physically separate location, and used Alexa Calling rather than Drop-in.”
You click on the communications option and you can toggle off the announcements there
So, that’s what Pete suggested, and I think that doesn’t make a lot of sense.
However, those preferences aside, in the Alexa app devices page (That’s the little icon at the bottom of the home screen devices), and then you can select “All Devices”, and then you can search for the Fire TV.
Then you click on the communications option and you can toggle off the announcements there.
Then the announcements will not be made over that particular device. And of course, you can do that for other devices as well.
So, I hope that’s helpful to lots of people. It’s a great question. Thank you, Lisa. Thank you, Pete.
Really appreciate both the question and the answer, and I hope you’re all doing well. Tomorrow I’ll be back with some Cyber Monday sales as well.
Alright. So enjoy the rest of your weekend and I’ll talk to you soon.
