Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #68
So here’s some interesting bit of news and this is relevant to Canada. This has been in the news recently and it’s a partnership between Amazon and Best buy, which I find fascinating on a number of levels.
First of all, the partnerships specifically speaks about TV’s that Amazon is starting to develop and of course the key feature here is that these TVs are going to be Alexa enabled.
And of course this will allow for all the functions that we already do with our Echo devices when we say that magic word Alexa.
In this announcement, Jeff Bezos, the Amazon founder and CEO, was quoted saying Amazon and Best buy have a long history of working together and today we take our partnership to a new level.
These fire additions, smart TVs by Insignia and Toshiba deliver beautiful visuals and all the movies and TV shows you love with an experience that gets better everyday with Alexa, we could not have a better partner in this endeavor.
The key feature here is that these TVs are going to be Alexa enabled.
So of course, just at that level, it’s a fascinating partnership but I think it’s interesting at a deeper level and that’s the fact that there’s now this formal partnership between Best buy, one of the largest consumer electronic retailers and Amazon, and it just shows that Amazon truly is you know, living up to this idea, this goal that they want Alexa to be everywhere.
This is supposed to be a multiyear partnership and this will start this summer. So as of this summer, these TVs will be available to be purchased in Best buy.
Of course they’ll be available to be purchased on Amazon as well but this also applies to Canada.
So very exciting in this case, Canada is not behind the United States and if well, certainly hope it comes out at the same time.
If it does come out in the states just before Canada, I don’t think it’ll be too long given the way it was worded in the announcement.
So if you’re looking at getting a TV and you love the Alexa interface and the voice service, it may be worthwhile holding off and just checking these out when they come out. All right. Have a good day.
