Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #528
Hey there, it’s Teri with your flash briefing on Wednesday. And today, I want to tell you about a little bit of news that came out recently from VoiceBot.ai, and they’re reporting that when you look at 2019 compared to 2018, at least so far in 2019, they’re noticing that the number of Alexa skills that are being launched in the skills store, is actually declining.
And, they even actually broke it down by country, so I want to tell you about Canada. So, in Canada, for 2018, the average number of skills per day was 68. So there are, on average there was 68 new skills that were launched in the Amazon Alexa skills store.
So far, for the first half of 2019, the new skills per day being launched on average is 12. So that’s a pretty significant drop. Why is this?
Some people are saying it’s because there’s not a clear path right now for developers to monetize what they are creating, and so there has been this little bit of a slowdown.
I think it’s going to be very interesting to see what happens going forward here.
The number of Alexa skills that are being launched in the skills store is actually declining.
If there are ways that people can start to actually earn some money from creating these skills, because I think until we really see a clear path for that, it’s going to be hard for developers to continue to innovate, and create these new skills.
So, anyway, very interesting little piece of news there. Thought you might like to hear about that. And again, I want to give another shout out, this time it is to Waldemar who has been a very active participant in the community, and very often will be in touch with me, and I love that Waldemar.
And this person writes, “Five stars. Informative and entertaining. Voice in Canada is a daily flash briefing for every smart home and voice assistant enthusiast and Alexa Fan.” So thanks so much, Waldemar.
I look forward to continue to stay in touch with you and communicate. So, there we are, I really appreciate that. If anybody else wants to leave a review VoiceinCanada.ca and you click on the button. Alright, have a great day. Talk to you tomorrow.
