Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #848

Hello, it’s Teri here with your flash briefing for Monday, June 15th.

And as you may know, last week I was talking about routines and I was giving some suggestions of how you can create routines, what you can use them for.

And I really wanted to hear from you from the community about how you’re using routines, by the way, if you want the tutorial on how to set up routines, just go to AlexainCanada.ca/Routines.

So here’s the one I want to tell you about very, very cool.

I got a tweet from, and I’m sorry, I’m gonna pronounce your name wrong but I’m going to do the best I can.

I got a tweet from Quaranton van Hamel and he said that he uses his routine to remember his WiFi password.

This is brilliant because here, I’ll read the tweet that he wrote to me, he said, “Alexa, what’s the WiFi password”.

If you separate each character with a comma and have her repeat it again to conclude then your house guests will never have to wonder what the WiFi password is.

What he’s doing is he’s using the custom phrase command in the routine, this is what I was talking about last week, if you heard the flash briefing.

He set up a flash briefing specifically to remember his WiFi password.

A Custom Phrase to Remember the Wi-Fi Password

So what he’s done is he set up a flash briefing specifically to remember his WiFi password and he set up the trigger for that routine to be that question, “What’s the WiFi password?”

And then when you asked that question, he’s set it up, then Alexa will give him the customer response of his WiFi password.

And this is brilliant because this didn’t require any skill to be set up, it didn’t require him to ask Alexa for a reminder is just simply using the function to get the response and it essentially is acting like a first-party skill cause you don’t have to open any skill.

It’s just a first-party command because you just ask the question and Alexa gives it to you.

So that’s really, really cool, I love that and boy, that is a lot of food for thought for me because I could think of so many other ways that we can use this.

There we go, wonderful, thanks so much for that tweet, thank you so much to you, everybody, northern voice for tuning in and tomorrow is a really fun podcast and I’ve got a really big announcement as well and I’m so excited about that.

So I hope you’ll tune in, I’ll talk to you then.
