Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #763
Hey there, Dr. Teri Fisher here with your flash briefing for Sunday and as you know, Sundays I like to answer questions from the community.
And I got a great question, a really important question, particularly with what’s going on in the world right now about how you can communicate with someone through the drop in feature.
So this is from David Ould and he wrote me an email and said, “Hey Teri, I have a question about how I can use the Amazon Show 8 to communicate with someone else who lives in a different place. Is there a way to simply drop in on that person once they give you permission?”
So this is a fantastic question because right now while we’re all supposed to be practicing this social distancing and I hope you are, you know, one of the great ways to stay in touch is to drop in on other people.
Now the key thing here, of course, is that that person would have to give you permission to drop in on them.
And if you wanted to have the other person drop in on you, you would have to give that person permission.
So the way you would do that is you would go into your Alexa app, you’d click on the communicate button, and then up in the top right corner you’ll see a little icon that looks like a person.
Experts coming on to talk about how voice technology can be used during times of pandemics.
When you click on that, you can then scroll through and or search for the person that you want to give access to.
And then once you find that person, you click on the person’s name and then you have some options to turn on or off whether or not you want to allow dropping in, showing caller ID and so on.
Once you have done that and that is enabled and in turn, the other person has enabled that for you, you can now simply say, “Alexa, drop in on …” that name of the person and it will just do that and now you can start talking.
And if it’s a video display, like a show, then you will have a video conversation with the person.
So this is a really great use of technology in what’s going on, particularly for today and what’s going on in the world.
So thank you so much David for that question and I hope that is a helpful answer to you as well.
If you want to learn more about ways that voice technology can help us with what’s going on today, just so you know, I am hosting an online, it’s free, an online webinar on Wednesday.
We’ve got some world experts coming on to talk about how voice technology can be used during times of pandemics, such as this.
And if you want to join you, just go to VoiceFirstHealth.com/Live and you can register for it there.
Again, thank you so much for your question, David, and hope you’re doing well.
Take care, talk to you again tomorrow.
