Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #746
Hey there, I’ve got a little tip for you today.
Do you want to use your Alexa or Echo device as a speaker phone to make a phone call?
Well, you can do that and I don’t know if I’ve ever actually given instructions on how to do this.
Here’s the bottom line, you can make phone calls using Alexa, but you cannot make calls to 911, 411 other three digit numbers or you know, premium numbers where you have to pay.
But this is the way you do it, alright?
Basically, you first have to have your Alexa app on your phone. You also obviously need to have an Amazon account.
You go into your communication settings on your Alexa app and that’s where you would set up your phone with your, Alexa device.
And once you’ve done that, now you can make calls hands-free through Alexa.
You cannot make calls to 911, 411, other three digit numbers or you know, premium numbers.
You simply say, you know, Alexa call and the name of the number or you can also say Alexa, call someone else’s Echo.
You say the name and the Echo if they have that set up as well.
So it’s pretty cool, I tried it actually, I wasn’t using it a whole lot and I just tried it with my cell phone and it worked great.
So there you go, if you want to use Alexa to call someone, you certainly can do that.

Listen on your Echo Device! Easy as 1-2-3!
1. Open your Alexa app and click on the Menu button > Settings > Flash Briefing.
2. Click on “Add Content” and search for “Voice in Canada”.
3. Click on “Voice in Canada” and the Enable button.
