Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #729
Hey there, it’s Teri here at the flash briefing and I got a question for you.
Have you ever felt that Alexa was a little bit too wordy when you just wanted her to do something, get it done and move on?
I’ll give you a good example, have you ever used Alexa to turn on or off your lights or some other smart home device and rather than her just doing it, she confirms that she does it and she gives you a statement.
Yes, this light is off or this light is on and so on and you’re like, yeah, I already just want to move on, ask you something else.
Well, the answer to that is something called brief mode and I may have talked about this a little while back, but I think this is one that’s a really, really important feature that it’s worth mentioning again.
It does keep the responses much more short, much more succinct.
And if you haven’t enabled brief mode, I highly recommend that you do because it does keep the responses much more short, much more succinct and for certain things where it’s just turn off the lights, you just want her to do it and it’s done.
This is how you do it, it’s really simple. You simply go into your app, into your Alexa app, you click on that icon in the top left corner, the hamburger icon, as it’s often called.
You click on settings, and then you scroll down to voice responses.
When you get to voice responses, you’re going to simply see a little slider where you can turn on brief mode.
And when you do that, instead of Alexa giving you some type of response, they’ll simply be a little tone to confirm that it got your request and that’s it.
So definitely use that. I think it’s a great feature and hopefully it does, just make your experience with Alexa a little bit more frictionless, a little bit more seamless and a little bit more efficient, alright?
Talk to you tomorrow.
