Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #712
Hey there. Now, here is an interesting story for you.
As you know, I’m a physician and one of the things I’m very interested in is voice technology and the association with healthcare.
Well, get this, Amazon has recently filed to trademark the term “Amazon Pharmacy” in Canada, as well as the UK and Australia.
What does that mean? Well, apparently they filed for this trademark on January 9th, in these three countries, and this is, you know, on top of a previous acquisition of a company called PillPack, which Amazon is now using in the United States to fulfill prescriptions.
So, this kind of makes you wonder what they’re doing.
I’ll tell you what I think is happening, and probably it doesn’t take a lot of detective work to figure this out.
Amazon is obviously making a very big play for healthcare, and with Alexa being such an important part of technology these days, I can see a time when we are going to be able to order prescriptions, perhaps renew prescriptions, all through voice.
And then, of course, when Amazon has a pharmacy, you will be able to get your medications delivered to you.
It shows that Amazon wants to be delivering medications in Canada.
So I think this is part of the overall plan of Amazon, to really, you know, get into the healthcare industry, and I think this is a very smart move on their part.
So, that’s the news, you know, when, if, how this is going to work in Canada, don’t know yet.
There’s a lot of questions that need to be resolved, but nevertheless, it shows that Amazon wants to be delivering medications in Canada, and if they’ve got Alexa, you know it’s going to be voice enabled.
So, interesting times, interesting news, and we’ll have to keep a lookout on what’s happening there. Alright?
Now, last thing before I sign off today, is I do want to give a shout out again to someone else that left a review for the flash briefing.
Leon King, thank you so much. Leon gives it five-stars and writes, “An absolute necessity for every flash briefing. Thank you so much Teri for all of your fantastic help. I had no idea how many things I could do with Alexa without your help, and I’m excited to stay tuned for 2020. From Vancouver, Leon King.”
Hey Leon, thanks so much. Another Vancouverite. Great to meet you, and thank you for your review.
