Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #691
Hey there. So here is a little bit of interesting news for you.
In an article I came across, it states that Amazon is expanding their Alexa voice service to low powered devices. Things like a light switch or toys.
So what does that mean? Well, let me break it down for you a little bit.
Typically, in order to run Alexa, there needs to be a certain amount of computing power. And, most of these devices need to be plugged into an outlet, an electrical outlet, or they need to have a reasonable size battery.
Which means that they typically then have to have a certain size in order to incorporate the electrical pieces, the electrical components that you need to run this type of device.
Now, what Amazon says though, is that they’re starting to offload the technology and the components that run the Alexa service into the cloud, so that low powered devices can have Alexa built in.
So again, the example, a light switch. A light switch is very small and it could potentially have Alexa built in.
Toys, maybe like a very simple battery powered toy could have Alexa built in.
Maybe a flashlight could have Alexa built in.
Think of very small things that are around the home that may be battery powered.
Let’s say a flashlight. Maybe a flashlight could have Alexa built in.
You can use your imagination, and think of things that you have lying around your home that are running off, you know, a couple of AA batteries, or AAA batteries, and perhaps in the future we’re going to see Alexa built into these devices as well. Should be very, very interesting.
Now, before I sign off today, I need to give you a little sneak peek at something really exciting happening in five days.
