Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #623

Hello, hello, and welcome to the flash briefing for Sunday. As you know, on Sunday I love to answer questions from the community, and today is no different.

Today I want to give a shout out to Ken Holmlund who put in a question in the Facebook community group. And by the way, you can access that at AlexainCanada.ca/Community.

And he wrote, “I’m thinking about getting one of the new Echo Flex devices to have at my desk at work for reminders and music.

Would I be able to link it to my Echoes at home even though there’s different WiFi?” Really good question, Ken.

And, Pete Bready had chimed in here with an answer that’s bang on, and he said, “It’ll link, but I wouldn’t use the Flex’s own speaker for music.”

And, that’s right. And Cathie as well chimed in and said, “I think as long as it’s registered to your account” and that’s exactly it. That’s the key.

It’ll link, but I wouldn’t use the Flex’s own speaker for music.

Question Echo Link on 2 Different Wifi Networks

As long as you have registered it to your Amazon account. If you have bought this on the same Amazon account that you bought your other Echo devices, then by default, it’s registered to that account.

And, if you sign into a different WiFi network, it doesn’t matter. But, Pete’s point is well taken, that although the Flex is very convenient and it’s inexpensive to add devices to various places that you want to have Alexa, the speaker is extremely small, and so the quality of the audio isn’t as great.

So if the quality of the audio is important to you, you might want to consider a different device. By the way, if you’re not sure what device to get, I do have a free cheat sheet, which you can access at AlexainCanada.ca.

You just put your email address there. So, thanks very much, Ken. Thanks very much for the answer, and I hope that helps. I will talk to you again tomorrow.
