Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #605

Hey there. So it’s Teri here and I’m really excited about today’s feature that I’m able to tell you about.

Couple of weeks ago, as you may know, Amazon had a big event, and they announced a whole bunch of new products and a whole bunch of new services as well.

And one of those services was the ability for Alexa to speak two languages at the same time. And this is a big deal for Canada, because we are actually one of the first countries that has this feature.

So basically, what’s the deal with this? Alexa is now bilingual. You can set her up so that you can speak to her in English, or in French, at the same time, and she can just flip back and forth between the two languages.

It is a very, very cool feature and there’s a lot of artificial intelligence and natural language processing technology that goes into this.

We are actually one of the first countries that has this feature.

Amazon Alexa is Now Bilingual in Canada

How do you set this up? Well, you go into your Alexa app. Once you’re in your Alexa app, you are going to go and click on device settings.

Then you click on the particular device that you want to enable the bilingual function for.

Then you scroll down and you’re going to see language. You click on language, and once you do that, then you’ll see that there is now an option instead of just English Canada, you can actually select English/Française.

My French is not very good, in case you didn’t notice, but you can set that up, and then once you’ve done that, it just takes a few seconds, it updates, and now you can speak to Alexa in both English and French.

A great feature for us Canadians. Lots of people are really excited about this.

I think it’s fantastic. And, there you go. So give it a shot, try it out. I’d love to hear what you think about it.
