Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #516

All right, so just how big was prime day this year? As you know, Prime Day took place on July 15th and 16th Monday and Tuesday of this week and well it was huge.

Again, it’s Teri Fisher here with your flash briefing. Amazon has just put out a recent press release that talks about their prime day and I’m going to give you some of the little highlights here because these numbers are just mind-boggling, all right.

First of all, any idea how many items Amazon sold in those two days worldwide? Take a guess.

They sold more than 175 million items over the course of those two days. I was on further goes on to say that Prime members worldwide saved more than $1 billion throughout Prime Day this year.

You know, I can’t help but wonder if the prime members saved $1 billion. How much did Amazon makeover Prime Day? Because that is just incredible.

Prime day surpassed the previous black Friday and cyber Monday combined worldwide.

And in fact, they actually said in the press release that the sales for prime day surpassed the previous black Friday and cyber Monday combined worldwide.

I mean what Amazon has created here at this prime day event is just incredible.

It kind of goes along with the whole company culture and just the way they are innovating.

And this event just continues to get bigger and bigger and bigger. All right.

The top-selling items in Canada were a PlayStation 4 slim with Spiderman and horizon zero dawn, the LifeStraw personal water filter and the 23andme health and ancestry kits, which kind of surprised me actually.

I thought it’d be the devices, the Echo devices, but they did say that the Echo devices with a screen, the show, and the Show5 were, I had the biggest days for those types of devices ever and I personally bought an Echo show5 and I’m sure a lot of you did as well.

So there you go. For those of you that did use my affiliate link, I really appreciate that. It certainly helps to support the show here, so thank you very much for that.

And I will speak with you again tomorrow. Remember this flash briefing goes on on the weekends, and tomorrow we’re going to talk about a couple of little cute commands you can say to Alexa. All right, talk to you then.
