Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #501

Hey there and welcome to episode 501. Now we are talking about Day 2  for Crack The Code. If you didn’t hear yesterday’s where I went into all the details of this interactive flash briefing, check it out.

You can always hear the previous flash briefing episodes if you need to catch up on a clue at AlexainCanada.ca/CrackTheCode. Okay. So, before we get to today’s code, I need to tell you a little bit about yesterday, because yesterday blew my mind.

There was such a tremendous response to launching this contest that everything was going great in the morning. And then, around mid-morning I started to get a few messages from people on Twitter saying, ‘I can’t open Crack The Code. What’s going on?”

So, of course, I turned to my expert Bob Stolzberg with VoiceXP who helped to create the skill.

And I said, “Bob, what’s going on? Like, the skill, I know it’s working perfectly. It was this morning, and now all of a sudden, some people are having trouble accessing the skill.” So Bob said, “Let me look into it.”

So he looked into it, and he sent me back a message and I quote, this is what Bob said about the Crack The Code skill, “There are no errors whatsoever in the lambda. It’s tweaked with a ton of memory and the concurrent sessions are good. Our web logs showed nothing weird at all, straight up, I think you broke Alexa in Canada, Teri. The traffic is huge.”

So you can imagine how I felt like we literally have done something to the Alexa voice service to create some problems.

The error messages that we were getting, Bob looked into, and they’re not messages specific to the Crack The Code skill.

There are now two clues out there for you. Have you found them?

Crack the Code Clue #2

They are in fact error messages from the Alexa voice service, which means that it is something going on with Alexa.

Anyway, after a short period of time, everything sorted itself out by itself, everything came back online and it’s been absolutely tremendous.

So, thank you for that and I look forward to talking to you now about day number two. Okay.

So, today I want to again pay tribute to one of the great supporters of the Alexa in Canada brand, and the flash briefing, and this is none other than Braden Ream.

Those of you that may not know Braden, he is the CEO and Co-founder of Voiceflow. And, he is a Canadian and his company is based in Canada.

So for many reasons, I had him featured on the podcast and he has been a great supporter of the brand.

Now, I had Braden on the podcast actually twice. He was on episodes 55 and 77, and we talked about all kinds of things.

And one of the things that we talked about in the first episodes was his history of Voice Technology and some of the skills that he developed.

And, he was really into stories for children initially and they had a number of different skills.

They went through a skill called Fable and then they created another skill which basically delivered choose-your-own-adventure stories, and it became very popular.

So popular in fact, that it is still currently the number one ranked skill in Canada. And we talked about this in that particular podcast episode.

So, I’m wondering, what is the name of that skill? Does anybody know? That just might be your clue for today, and remember to go to Crack The Code and enter that clue if you know the answer, and you might just get a little bit of a reward. Okay?

And remember, you always have a chance to get more entries for the prizes by going to AlexainCanada.ca/CrackTheCode. Alright?

So shout out to Braden his team at Voiceflow and their tremendous success with their platform, and with their skill that is still the number one skill in Canada.

There are now two clues out there for you. Have you found them?
