Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #38
Hey there, today we’re doing something really, really basic, it has occurred to me that some people, some users are not sure how to add new skills to their Alexa device.
And I’ve been talking a lot about skills and different things that you can do. And I just wanted to tell you exactly how you add a new skill.
If you’re not sure how to do that, if you are sure how to do that, then fantastic and you can go directly to AlexainCanada.ca/Skills where you can see some of the top reviewed skills for Canada as well as a link directly to the Amazon skill store.
But the way you enable skills, well, the first way is to just know the name of the skill that you want and you can search that online as I just told you.
I just wanted to tell you exactly how you add a new skill.
And you just simply say that command Alexa enable and the name of the skill and then the skill is there.
And then the next time you want to use it, you can say, “Alexa, open the name of the skill”. Now here’s the thing, you don’t actually need to say that anymore.
You can simply just say, “Alexa, open the name of the skill” and in some cases you can actually just say “Alexa, the name of the skill” and it will activate the skill.
So it’s very simple that’s literally how you do it. You just say what skill you want to use and Alexa does it.
The other way to do it is to go onto your Alexa App, click on the menu icon and click on skills.
And when you do that, you will see that you can sort skills based on categories and once you do that, you can also sort skills based on release date or average customer rating or featured ones or relevance.
And so this is a great way to find some skills that you might want to play around with. And again, once you do that you can click the enable button in the App and that has basically done the same thing.

1. Open your Alexa app and click on the Menu button > Settings > Flash Briefing.
2. Click on “Add Content” and search for “Voice in Canada”.
3. Click on “Voice in Canada” and the Enable button.
