Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #34
But this being Saturday, I thought I would tell you about a feature that has just recently been activated in Canada that will hopefully help you relax a little bit.
And this feature is that Alexa can now read you a book, specifically the audible service from Amazon is now available in Canada.
And so if you have an audible account and you enjoy listening to audio books, then now Alexa can read you the story and come on, really, I mean who doesn’t like having a story read to them.
So these are some of the things that you can do with Audible. First of all the way you enable it in your device is simply you go to the Alexa App on your phone, click on the menu icon, hit music and books.
And you will see Audible as an option down close to the bottom and then you basically just follow the instructions on the screen.
This feature is that Alexa can now read you a book.
But once you’ve got that all set up, you can then ask Alexa to do various things.
So you can, for example, say “Alexa read me….” and give the name of the title of the book that you want Alexa to read to you.
You can say, “Alexa, pause” “Alexa, resume my book”. You can actually skip ahead or go back 30 seconds by saying, “Alexa, go back” or “Alexa, go forward” and the neat thing is that you can actually pick up right where you left off on your mobile device using your audible App.
So it works quite seamlessly between Alexa and the actual audible App. So have a listen to that, if you are an audible user, I’d love to hear your feedback about this.
This was some pretty big news that audible announced just recently and it’s time we got it here in Canada.

Listen on your Echo Device! Easy as 1-2-3!
1. Open your Alexa app and click on the Menu button > Settings > Flash Briefing.
2. Click on “Add Content” and search for “Voice in Canada”.
3. Click on “Voice in Canada” and the Enable button.
