Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #115

I hope you’re having a great morning, afternoon, evening. Whenever you’re listening to this flash briefing.

I’m really excited about this flash briefing today. As you may recall, if you’ve been listening to this for some time, I have asked you listeners to send in some questions that you would like me to answer on the flash briefing and I got a question from somebody by the name of Sandy and she asked a great question that I thought would be really valuable to answer here on the flash briefing so that you all can learn from it.

And her question basically says “I have a lot of new skills enabled on my Echo so that I have a hard time remembering what to ask for. I’m forever going to Alexa App to scroll down my entire list of skills, which kind of defeats the purpose of having a voice activated device”.

Totally agree with that, Sandy. So she’s tired to get Alexa to list the skills for her, but she couldn’t find a way to do that.

Is that possible? Well, the good news, Sandy and everybody else is that it totally is possible.

The way that you do this is you say, “Alexa, what are my enabled skills?” And then Alexa will start to go through your list of enabled skills and sort of present them to you one at a time and ask you if you want her to open it or to you know, to launch that skill.

And if you say no, she’ll go to the next one. And if you say no, you should go to the next one.

And after about three of them, if you’ve said no three times, she’ll ask you if you want her to continue listing them. So I think that’s a good way of doing it.

If you’re trying to find a particular one, it could take some time to go through the list.

Your Enabled Skills

I don’t know if there is a better way of doing it, voice activated because if you’ve got tons of skills, I don’t know how useful it is for Alexa just to like list 20 skills, maybe it is, I’m not sure.

But anyway, this is the way it’s set up to work with Alexa right now. She definitely can tell you the skills, but if you’re trying to find a particular one, it could take some time to go through the list.

Hopefully that is helpful to you Sandy, and I have to mention here, I want to thank you Sandy, because Sandy also left a Five-star review on the skill store, which is fantastic.

She wrote, “Indispensable. I’ve learned so much about my Echo from having Voice in Canada as part of my flash briefing and it’s completely tailored to Canadian users. Teri’s tips and tricks have really enriched the Alexa experience for me”.

I like that Sandy they putting Alexa in quotes. “I’d recommend the skill and the AlexainCanada.ca website to anyone who wants to make the most other Echo device.

Keep up the amazing work”. Well, thanks Sandy. It’s a real pleasure and I’m glad I got a chance to actually help you personally with this question of yours and I encourage other listeners to send in their questions because this is great.

I love answering the questions right here. So thanks Sandy. Hope everybody’s having a great day and I’ll talk to you tomorrow.
