Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #441
Hey there. I hope you are having a fantastic Sunday. It’s Teri Fisher here with your flash briefing. And on Sundays, I like to answer questions from the community. Again, you can join the community at AlexainCanada.ca/Community.
Today’s question comes from Bonnie Clark Bremner, and she asks, “Is it possible to use an Echo Dot with the 4K Firestick?” Great Question Bonnie, and I’ve got some good news for you here. You absolutely can.
Basically, the way that you go about doing this, is you go into your Alexa settings, and then you’re gonna click on TV and Video. Then you’re going to select Fire TV, and then you basically follow the onscreen instructions.
You’re going to link your device, and then you’re going to be able to actually control your Fire TV stick with your Echo Dot. So, why is that really cool? Well, I’ll give you an example.
I have an Echo device in the same room where I have my TV, with my Fire TV stick, and now instead of having to use the remote, which by the way is fantastic, the remote with Alexa built in, but instead of having to use that, I could simply just speak.
I can just speak out loud to Alexa and I can give Alexa all kinds of commands, that makes watching TV and shows completely seamless. Just to give you an idea of the things you can say.
You’re going to be able to actually control your Fire TV stick with your Echo Dot.
You can say watch a particular title or play a title. You can ask for a particular genre. You can say, “Search for a movie or TV show, find that title or genre, play pause, stop, resume, rewind, fast forward, et cetera”.
So, all this stuff that you could… that you would want to be able to do… to control your TV by remote, you can now do by voice. So, very, very, very, very, very, very cool. I want to give a shout out as well to Pete Brady, who helped with this, he gave a link to a help document.
So I really appreciated that, Pete. Thanks for the help there. And Bonnie, I hope that answers your question. If you would like to get a Fire TV stick and control of Alexa, I am an affiliate for Amazon.
There is absolutely no additional cost to you whatsoever, but if you go to AlexainCanada.ca/FireTV, it will take you to the Amazon site where you can have a look at these. Again, there’s absolutely no extra cost to you, but of course, I thank you very much if you choose to use that affiliate link.
Also, you can just click on the link in the skills card on your mobile phone when listening to this flash briefing. Okay? Have a great day. Talk to you again tomorrow.
