Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #336

Hey there, I hope you are doing well and having a great, great weekend. I’m finally back from the Alexa Conference. It was a fantastic conference and I’ll be sharing a lot more information that I got out of that conference over the next couple of days, both here on the flash briefing as well as in the podcast, so stay tuned for that.

Today on Sundays, you may know that I like to answer questions from the community and that you can access the community AlexainCanada.ca/Community. And, the question I want to answer today is from Nancy Wolmer, and she says, “Is the drop-in feature free when you drop into another province or country?

Are there any phone fees?” Well, great, great question Nancy. And, I want to give a shout out, of course, to those that took the time to respond. That’s Pete, I think it’s Breedy or Brady. Hans Laroche. Both of you. Thanks for the answers. The answer is, there are no fees.

It is free because when you use the drop-in feature, it is over WiFi, it is over the Internet, so similar to when, you know, you make a call over the Internet, the same thing with the drop-in feature.

It’s a really nice feature that Amazon has put into Alexa and it allows you to drop in.

Question: Is the Alexa Drop In Feature Free?

So, it’s a really nice feature that Amazon has put into Alexa and it allows you to drop in. Of course, when you drop-in with somebody, that person has to have given you permission to do so.

So you can’t just drop in on anybody that you want without that person giving you permission, but if you have permission then it really is a nice way to just sort of drop in. I personally use it as an intercom.

We have one Alexa upstairs, one Alexa downstairs, and when I want to drop in on my kids downstairs, then it’s perfect, I don’t have to be shouting down the stairs now, to them. So there you go.

Hope you find that helpful and I look forward to sharing a lot more information with you from the conference over the next couple of days. Take care, everybody.
