Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #323
Alright. Let’s talk about the number of Alexa skills in Canada for a brief moment here today. As you know, Alexa’s been in Canada for about 14 months now. And, we have seen a tremendous influx in the number of skills that are now available in our country.
In fact, VoiceBot.ai reports that Canada now has, at least at the time of this reporting, at the beginning of January of this year, 2019, Canada had 22,873 skills after just 14 months of this technology being available here in Canada.
So you have to wonder, well, how did that happen? because it would be very unusual to have 22,000 developers all of a sudden developing skills in the last year since it’s been in Canada.
The bottom line is that a lot of these skills that we’re now seeing in Canada finally, are skills that had been developed for the United States market, and now, a lot of those developers have jumped on board in terms of making their skills available to other countries out there.
So, we are sort of in line with Australia now. Australia has just fewer less skills than us, 22,398. The UK is a little bit more at 29,910, and the United States is, you know, leading the race here, by and large, with 56,750 skills.
Now, they have had Alexa for three years or close to four years now. And, so it’s been very, very interesting to see that it took them that long to get to that number, whereas we have almost half of those in just one year.
So I think that bodes very well for us Canadians in terms of what type of skills and the number of skills that we’re going to be seeing coming online for us here in our country.
A lot of these skills that we’re now seeing in Canada finally, are skills that had been developed for the United States market.
So that’s a little bit about the stats. And just before you sign up today, I want to give another shout out to the most recent person that left a review for the Voice in Canada flash briefing. And that is Thomas Day. He just left this a couple of days ago. And, he gave it five stars, wrote, “Love the daily tips, something new every day” Hey Thomas, thanks so much.
It’s really appreciated and I just want to acknowledge the effort that you took to do that. It’s fantastic. And I do read, as you can tell, I read every single review that’s written, and it really means a lot to me.
If you want to leave a review as well, it’s simple. Just go to VoiceinCanada.ca. Click on the red button in the middle of the screen that you’ll see that says, “Leave a review” Type in your review, click submit and you’re done.
Alright, tomorrow I’ve got a really fun podcast coming out and I will tell you all about it tomorrow. Talk to you then.
