Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #1057
Hey there, Teri Fisher here with your flash briefing for Sunday and as you know, on Sundays, we answer questions from the community, one of my favorite days of the week, when it comes to the flash briefing.
And this one comes from our Facebook group and if you want to join our Facebook group, feel free to do so at VoiceinCanada.ca/Community.
Now this question is from Barbara Braun and let me set this up for you.
She basically says that she has multiple Echo devices, and she has more than one device respond at once.
This is a very common problem and theoretically, as Barbara says, there’s something called Echo Spatial Recognition that should be in place so that the closest device responds to your request or question.
That’s absolutely right, Barbara, that is the technology that exists and under perfect circumstances, that’s theoretically how it would work.
But you’re right, it’s not perfect and I’ve experienced this before, as have many people in our community.
it’s not perfect and so you either have to put up with that, or try naming your devices, different names
And so we had a lot of people comment on this, we had William and William had a great idea.
This is one of the solutions and that’s this, you are able to name your devices, different things.
So for example, you can name your device Echo, you can name it, Amazon, you can name it computer and of course, you can name it Alexa.
This is one way to get around it so that you speak to only one device because it’s got a different name.
The problem with that, if it’s a problem, it’s up to you to decide, is well, you have to remember the different names for the different devices.
So in theory, if they were all named the same, the one closest to you should be speaking to you but unfortunately doesn’t work like that.
We also had Marlene and Jesse, a couple people other comment that this has been an issue for them as well.
So, Barbara, there you go, the bottom line is, yes, theoretically it is supposed to work, but it’s not perfect and so you either have to put up with that, or try naming your devices, different names, and that should help with that problem, alright?
Thanks so much for your question, Barbara, thank you listeners Northern voice, thank you and I’ll talk to you again tomorrow.
Have a great rest of your weekend.
