Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #1019

Hey there, Teri here with your flash briefing for Thursday and I want to tell you about a new feature that is launching today.

But we’ll be rolling out over the next couple of weeks, so you may not have access to it just yet.

But this is webcam support for the Fire TV Cube and what’s the big deal about this?

Well, what it does is it allows you to use your TV as a video conferencing device, and allows you to basically just sit on your couch and relax while you’re chatting and catching up with your family and friends.

So here’s the deal, this works with the newest second generation model of the cube.

And it allows you to start to a video calls with any other Alexa enabled device with a screen including phones and devices like the Echo Show.

And they say it will begin rolling out today through the coming weeks in Canada, so it’s hard to say exactly when it will become available.

Fire TV Cube Adds Webcam Support

You will need a webcam with at least a 720p resolution and 30 frames per second but the one little snag here is that you will need an adapter because the Fire TV Cube only has a micro USB port on the back.

And so you’ll need a USB-A, two micro USB adapter in order to plug in the webcam.

But once you have that all set up, then if somebody’s making a video call, you will see the caller ID on the screen.

Alexa will tell you the caller’s name and then you just have to answer by saying, “Alexa, answer”.

So pretty cool, you can just sit back watch your TV and have video conferencing calls with your loved ones and your friends.

So check it out, if this has rolled out for you and you were able to access it send me a message on Twitter at DrTeriFisher and I’d love to know how it’s working out for you, alright?

Have a great day, talk to you tomorrow.
