Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #950
Hey there, Teri Fisher here and yesterday was the big Amazon devices announcement event that they do on an annual basis.
If you remember last year, last year was, well, they announced a whole bunch of products, including things like the Echo Frames, the Echo Loop.
And anyway, this year, they did it virtually, they didn’t live stream it to everybody.
I was very fortunate I was invited to, to watch it and I watched it online and there were so many announcements, again, this year.
I’ll probably have to break this up into a number of flash briefings because there’s so much to talk about with regards to this.
But I think today, I’ll just focus on the hardware, a couple of the hardware updates that they noticed, or that they noted and I will talk more about this in the coming days.
So the biggest form factor change really, is that the standard Echo the one that has been in the cylinder since the very beginning, and the Echo Dot, they both have got a new shape, they’re both spherical.
And I think they actually look very cool, they look very modern and the ring light is now kind of around the bottom.
And when the ring light is on, it actually kind of glows down onto the desk and it’s actually quite cool to see that.
they launched something that I can only describe as a ring branded camera that can fly around
Also, there is an Echo Dot with clock, which basically is the same spherical, smaller version of the Echo, but it’s actually got that clock display as well, so that’s pretty cool as well.
Now, there’s so much more I could tell you, they did a lot of announcements about ring, the doorbells and security systems and so on and we’ll get into this later.
But I just want to mention this now, they launched something that I can only describe as a ring branded camera that can fly around your home.
It is essentially a drone and this is called the Ring Always Home and this literally like it, I don’t have to describe it, it’s something out of a sci-fi movie.
The way it works is if there’s a sound that is heard, or you want to engage this device, it takes off from its dock, and it can fly around the home autonomously and it has a camera and it can check where the noise is coming from.
And then when it’s done its little mission, if you will, it flies back to its dock and it lands and it charges.
Like boy oh boy, incredible, and of course, this can be controlled by voice by Alexa.
So oh boy, I don’t know if this is coming to Canada right away or not, I’m not sure but anyway, this was the kind of the surprise product I would say of them all in the announcement.
So I’ll be talking lots more about all these in the coming days, for now, that’s what I’ve got for you and pretty cool stuff.
I’ll talk to you again tomorrow.
