Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #899
Hey there, Teri Fisher here and I want to give you a little update on something that was announced just recently on the Alexa Live online conference for developers.
And I think this is a great feature and I just want to basically give you a heads up about this, because I think you’re going to be seeing this more and more on a lot of Alexa skills.
You know, one of the issues with skills is remembering the invocation phrase, so what is it that you say in order to get Alexa to open a skill.
And Amazon has just released at least in a beta form, something called Quick Links and what this is, it’s the ability to click on any link that you see really anywhere.
Whether it’s on the web on social media in a text wherever you could see a hyperlink that we’re so used to now you click on that and what that does is it automatically launches a skill on Alexa device of your choice.

So you click the link, it will then open up a browser or a window, depending on what device you’re on.
It’ll ask you which device you want to enable the skill and Alexa just starts playing that skill, very cool.
As I mentioned, this is in a beta version right now, so you’re not going to see this yet, but I can imagine that there going to be lots of great use cases for this coming forward and I think it’s a very, very neat innovative idea that Amazon has come up with.
So I tell you that it’s some interesting news and be in the lookout for some of these new skills that are going to be taking advantage of Quick Links to help us launch these skills and get into these experiences much more quickly than we can currently.

1. Open your Alexa app and click on the Menu button > Settings > Flash Briefing.
2. Click on “Add Content” and search for “Voice in Canada”.
3. Click on “Voice in Canada” and the Enable button.
