Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #878

Hello, it’s Teri Fisher here with your flash briefing and today I want to talk about how you can change the name of your device.

You know, we keep referring to her as Alexa, because I don’t want to trigger that device.

Well, if you have already changed the word, you may know that you can have a different wake word.

It could be computer, it can be Echo, it could be Amazon and the way you do this is pretty simple.

You can open the Alexa app, select devices and then select Echo and Alexa.

Echo device technology is designed so that the one closest to you should be answering.

Change Your Echo Device Name

And then you can select the specific, the device that you want to change the name for and then, you just choose the name that you want.

And this can be really useful, if, for example, you’ve got different devices that you’ve got in different rooms, and you want to only trigger the device in that particular room and you don’t want to trigger the other one by accident, give them different names.

Now, in theory, this shouldn’t be required because the Echo device technology is designed so that the one closest to you should be answering you, but it doesn’t always work, so that is an option for you.

I hope you find that little tip helpful, and I have a great day, I’ll talk to you tomorrow.
