Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #830
Hello, hello, it’s Teri Fisher here and today I want to do a quick little review, but also point out some new features on the communications tab options, if you will, when you’re looking at your Alexa app.
I was just recently looking at my app and I noticed that when you click on the communicate button at the bottom, there are now four icons along the top.
So call, message, drop in and announce and so what this allows you to easily do any of those functions from your phone.
So calling, obviously, if you set up your cell phone number to work with Alexa, then you can make a call through your device or through your phone using Alexa app.
Message, well you can send a message, drop in, of course, that’s the feature where it allows you to just drop in i dont know how to describe it.
It allow you to automatically say hello to whoever it is that has enabled the ability for you to drop in on them.
This allows you to easily do any of those functions from your phone.
And announce, that’s the ability for you to send an announcement throughout all of the echo devices on your account.
So for example, you could say, “announced that dinner is ready” and you’re good to go.
In fact one of the neat things that you can do using the app is you can click on the announced button, you can actually type something in, hit the speaker little microphone button and it will automatically play on your devices at home.
So you could use that, for example, if you’re out of the house and you want to announce something at home, you just use that feature and they’ll announce it throughout your home, so pretty cool.
So it looks like Amazon gradually is adding more and more functionality to the app as well.
It’s interesting cause obviously when I’m using my voice devices, I’m not necessarily looking at my app, but it’s nice to check in once in a while and see cause there’s a lot of functionality built in there as well.
Hope that’s useful to you, I hope you have a wonderful day and I’ll talk to you tomorrow.
