Voice In Canada Flash Briefing #826

Hello, hello, hello and welcome to the flash briefing for Sunday.

It’s Teri Fisher here, and as you know on Sundays, I do like to answer questions from the community.

And today’s question comes from the Facebook community, you can access the Facebook community at AlexainCanada.ca/Community if you want to join us there.

And this question is from Yves Desjardins, and he says, “Good morning, is there a routine guru in the group?”

I love this and actually just as a side notice, I’ve been thinking about, really highlighting some of the really cool routines.

So we’ll come back to that, but anyway, he says that he’s trying to set up a routine to play some music and/or certain skill at bedtime for say, 30 minutes and after a predetermined number of minutes, it would stop.

Is there a command to set that up? Well James Jury posted a bunch of screenshots of his routine and I love it, and I’m going to tell you, these are all the things that he has set up with the command, with just the one command, “Alexa put me to sleep”.

I really would love to highlight people that are doing really cool things with their routines.

Routines to turn off Alexa

So this is what happens, it turns off his bedroom light, then it turns off his kid’s bedroom light in both kids’ rooms, then it sets the volume to one.

Then Alexa says a random phrase from the good night list of phrases and then it set to shuffle his sleep playlist and finally, he has it set on a timer, so that lasts for 30 minutes and then turns off on its own.

So that’s really great, I mean, that’s a very, very good use of the routine and it does address the issue of having a playlist play and then turn off at a certain amount of time.

So there you go, very, very cool, thanks for the question and thanks for the answer.

Along those lines, I really would love to highlight people that are doing really cool things with their routines.

So if you are either post it in the Facebook group or send me a message and let me know what’s going on because I’d love to highlight those.

I think it’s a really good utility, a really good use for this technology.

So hope you’re having a wonderful day, I will talk to you again tomorrow.
