About Janice Mandel
Janice is deeply committed to inclusivity and the appropriate use of data in voice. She provided years of writing for global consulting firm Price Waterhouse Coopers, led a health care startup, and managed content for VOICE Summit 2018 and 2019. Janice was recently appointed to the George Washington University Digital Marketing Certificate Program Advisory Council. She continues to advise startups and early-stage firms and take on freelance projects in her spare time.
How Janice Got Her Start
Janice’s first job was at a startup, and she was shocked when they were all fired because the company was bought out. Soon after this, Janice was presented with an opportunity from Steve Ross to be an editor. After that, Janice took a position at Simon and Schuster.
She also wrote the newsletters for Price Waterhouse Coopers for 19 years and she also got to interview top professionals in the industry for the money tree survey.
Janice believes that street credibility is key and trust is a big deal.
Janice is known for her role at Voice Summit back in the day. Janice started to understand that things were changing in the voice industry.
Janice wrote a column for Coopers and Lybrand about business incubation. Janice shared that she met Pete Erickson from the Voice Network and she learned a lot from him.
Some Open Voice Network Projects That Janice Has Been Involved With?
Janice mentioned that Jon Stein and the Open Voice Network are so welcoming. Janice loves that Jon is a leader who minds people’s talents.
Janice wrote a paper with Donald Buckley called “The Future of Media Entertainment” that can be found on the Open Voice Network website.
Janice’s Role with the Voice Network Evolved Over Time
Janice volunteered in the ethical use task force because she believes that privacy and security are essential. Janice was also a part of the synthetic voice workshop and did a whitepaper on synthetic voice. Janice is also involved with the Media Entertainment Group.
She was also invited to be a member of the Advisory Council of the George Washington Digital Marketing Certificate Program. Janice also shared that they found her from her digital activity online.
The Power Synthetic Voice
Janice shared that she had a friend that was losing her voice and this person is having a synthetic voice made for her. The impact of voice is so amazing when it can bring people together to do good.
