Release Details of the New Echo Show 5 and Echo Show 8
Amazon recently shared some information with me about some new echo devices that are launching. There are going to be new versions of the Echo Show.
Current Echo Devices
The Echo Show 5 is the smaller version that has a display size of 5.5 inches. The Echo Show 8 is a mid-size echo device with a screen. The Echo Show 10 is the one that swivels.
The New Echo Show 5 and Echo Show 8 Have Upgraded Features
Amazon is launching two new versions of the Echo Show. The new versions are for the Echo Show 5 and Echo Show 8. The new echo devices are available for pre-order.
The upgrades to the new Echo Show 5 are that it now features a compact 5.5-inch display and has an upgraded high-definition camera. It will be available in charcoal, glacier white, and deep-sea blue colors. The best part is that the price is still the same as the older version, which is $99.99.
The Echo Show 8 has a vibrant 8-inch-high-definition camera and an adaptive color display. It has a 13-megapixel wide-angle camera with a digital pan tilt and zoom feature. The pan-tilt and zoom feature can digitally change the field of view by panning and following you around. It also has dual stereo speakers for balanced sound. The price stayed the same as the older version at $169.99.
In a press release by Amazon Canada, Amazon Alexa Manager, Celine Lee said, “Customers love using the Echo Show to easily stay in touch and in the past year have made three times the video calls globally than the prior year. With these new Echo Show devices, we focused on communication, bringing a powerful camera and digital Pan and Zoom capabilities to the new Echo Show eight, upgrading the Echo Show five camera, and adding new augmented reality effects to make the video calls more fun and engaging.”
The AR features will be coming soon and what it means for users is that they can tap on the screen and choose from animated visual and audio in-call reactions such as laughs, confetti, hearts, etc. Also, you will soon be able to turn on the in-call augmented reality effects that will allow you to appear in street art or in a classic painting and other similar creative ideas.
Some other upgrades to the Echo Show 5 are that the upgraded HD camera has double the pixels of the Echo Show 5 and it also has a built-in camera shutter ideal for video calls. It also allows you to securely access the built-in camera on Echo Show through the Lexie app to be able to check in on your home or pets in your absence.
The Privacy Concern
Both new echo devices have built-in shutters that allow you to cover the cameras so there is no way the camera can view anything even if it somehow were to turn on.
